When i heard for the first time Mayabazaru song of KSD Appalraju, was very curious about how the movie will be? Hoped Varma will come back to Telugu industry with a bang.. Also expected one more comedy riot like Khanam Khanam or Money. Alas all the hopes were shattered. I learned that going to a movie without expectations is always better.
KSD Appalraju, is a different movie in its kind. If you are expecting awesome story line or want to know more about the inside news of the Tollywood actors & actress or lovely comedy or awesome costumes or sexy heroine or lot of sarcasm of the Telugu hero or heroines or for Brahmanandam than this is not the movie you should plan to watch.
If you want to see how difficult an idea is to conceive without loosing its originality or being corrupted when it is finally delivered.

Appalraju (Sunil) is from a very small town Amalapuram who wants to make a great tragedy movie. He comes down to great Bhagyanagar aka Hyderabad to try his hand and luck. Some how he find a person who can help him making the movie. The whole movie is about how he faces different obstacles while making the movie. In the process of making the movie he ends of compromising the base story itself.
The best part of the movie is the final awards ceremony where like AP Govt Nandi awards Varma created Gorrum (Horse) award ceremony. We also have Ravi Teja making a guest appearance. The best part of the movie which i felt is Ravi Teja dugging(voice) was given by Varma himself in the movie. Let me know if i am wrong. One more interesting thing i noted is when Sunil talks to his father about his intentions of making a movie than the way he speak with the mannerism of Varma himelf are funny to notice. There is a rumour that Varma when wanted to make SHIVA his first movie he also fought with his father to give money or to finance his movie.
I also feel to a large extent Sunil's role i felt is very much a shade of Varma's real life experiences. A line in the movie where it is said every producer has a underworld connection or financier for his movie, mdae me feel his own personal experience for movies like Satya or Company. The heroine looked more like his film heroines- Urmila or Antramali. I also felt Varma is a mean director- there were many scenes where actors were sweating like pigs. Ha ha...
For me its a one more experiment of Varma gone wrong.. I enjoyed the song Mayabaazaru.. which pulled me to the theatre since they say i heard it. You can watch it once for Sunil or if you are a big fan of Peccha Varma. I am still waiting to see his old magic of making movie come back.
