My Thought on the upcoming Moive of Rajini Saru's 'Endhiran, the Robot'

In 1999 a movie called Bicentennial Man directed by Chris Columbus and Lead role played by Robin Williams an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winning American comedian, which is based on the novel written by Issac Asimov with the same name, I guess has inspired our great South Indian director Shankar for his next movie.

Shankar gave us some of the famous thought provoking movies like Indian aka Hindustani, Gentleman, Mudhalvan aka Nayak, Anniyan aka Aparachit, Shivaji(The Boss) to name a few which were a great example of creativity has tied up with another great legendary actor of South Indian film industry Rajinikanth to make the next movie 'Endhiran, the Robot'.

In the original movie made in 1999 follows the 'life' and times of the lead character(Robin Williams), an android who is purchased as a household robot programmed to perform menial tasks. Within a few days the Martin family realizes that they don't have an ordinary android as Andrew begins to experience emotions and creative thought. In a story that spans two centuries, Andrew learns the intricacies of humanity while trying to stop those who created him from destroying him, and at the end the robot with advent of technology starts to transform into a normal human being.

I guess in our Indian version of this movie as being speculated in the industry The film is reportedly set in the future. I feel our lead actor who too will start as a robot in the beginning of the movie as the movie progresses falls in love with the female lead actor being played by Aishwarya Rai. So the robot(Rajini Saru) tries to become a Human Being to get his love and the story must be revolving around how he tries to become a Human Being and IS he successful in getting his LOVE or not?

This is not the first time our South Indian directors have resorted to copying of Hollywood movies. If we can go back 10 years back and recall a movie called Chachi 420 directed by Kamal Hasan was inspired by another great movie of Robin Willimas Mrs.Doubtfire. And its not only South Indian directors who are insipred by the Hollywood. So, let me not be partial by just pointing out only the South Indian directors some good and big hits of Bollywood of recent time like Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai both are inspired by Robin William movies PATCH ADAMS and GOOD MORNING VIETNAM.

So i feel our innocent public is ignorant of all the copy paste work.
I feel its wise for us to apprciate the original master pieces than the copy paste work done by our masala directors.

Don Seenu Review

After watching KICK nearly a week back i was eager to watch his movie after i came to know that it was being produced by the same producer. Nearly 6 days back on msnindia website got to see the first images of the movie. Today morning while passing by the theatre realised that the movie got released. So the movie freak always thirst and never sleeping devil inside me woke up. I went to office but it was back of my mind that i must watch the movie today. I left office at 6:30 PM and went directly to hall to buy a ticket saw the long queue and lost any hope of getting a ticket. I decided to go back to room check out online if i could get a ticket but what a fate i have power went off. I quickly changed and rushed back to the theatre and i was luck got the First Call ticket.
Now about the movie. DON Seenu.. Someone said whats there in the name. But this movie is all about name and the name is in the title itself its DON.
Let me start by telling about the our hero. Ravi Teja plays the role of Don Seenu. Long back in 2006 a movie in Tamil was made in which Suriya played the role of a fan of Thalaivar Super Star Rajnikant. And for the first time in Tollywood we have a character who imitates and try to live the life of a famous actor on screen. When Ravi Teja's IDIOT got released i always felt he imitated Big B a lot. His dialogues, his body language, his style resembled a lot with Big B. Don Seenu is just the true reflect of the same. In this movie Ravi Teja is a big fan of Big B and in the first shot we can see the kid watching 1978 DON movie. He get tattooed his name DON SEENU on his arm like "Meera Baap Chor hai" style. These small trivial things send you on a laughter ride all through out the movie. In few instances Don Seenu blabbers the lines of Big B's hit movie but he doesn't understand the dialogue meaning but he still uses them. Ravi Teja has once again delivered an action packed mass masala movie. He truly did what he is best at acting for the crowd. I had tough time to catch up dialogues because the crowd was a pakka mass crowd whistling every time Ravi Teja is on screen and the sound quality in the theatre was pathetic.
About the heroine Shriya. Frankly speaking i was disappointed. After giving some good performances in Santosham and Tagore she vanished from the Tollywood industry for five years. And this movie was her comeback movie. In my opinion she looked pathetic. In all the scenes she had too much make-up and her idea of wearing skimpy to appeal the crowd was the most useless trick. Her role in the movie doesn't worth mentioning much. Over all i will rate her character as 1.5 or 2 on a scale of 10.
Now coming to the other roles. You have a whole set of comedians starting from Ali to Brahmananda the whole gang of Kick movie are present in this movie also. They keep entertaining you without making you feel that you are off the track. You also have few other role played by SriHari, Manoj Manjrekar, Sayaji Shinde and Katuri ( the lady of Annamayya) makes a comeback.
Music was bad nothing much to hum after watching the movie. But the background score was nice imitating some of the Old Big B movie songs and james bond background. It was entertaining.
Finally i will say watch this movie if you want to have a good nice laugh and if you want to see how it would be if someone start imitate big actors on screen. And a must watch movie if you a fan of Ravi Teja an his full blown one man show kind of movie. In every frame and scene you will find on Don Seenu and the story behind Don Seenu making.
Have fun.. Enjoy and i am sure you will have a nice good time...
DON DON DON...

Tere Bin Laden

It has been more than 10 days since i have watched a movie in the theatre. After Inception & Maryadaramma i got stuck at work closing the reports and sitting late nights to prepare them didnt get time to watch movies. Today i some how decided to catch up with a movie but i was in a dilemma which movie either Once Upon a time in Mumbaaai or Tere bin Laden. I checked in the net and realised there was a show of Tere Bin Laden at 8:05 PM and if i dont go today than wont be able to see it in theatre as by Friday the movie will be showning in morning only. So i left office at 7:20 PM. I started my bike drove at a speed of 70 km/hr took the route of via Old airport road-Yemalur-Bellandur-HSR Layout. My bike start crying once again because of my rash driving. After waiting at the signals and cutting through traffice I reached my garage size room at 7:55 PM dropped my bag, took bike documents and rushed to the PVR Cinemas. I reached the ticket booking counter at 8:10 PM and rushed to Audi 2. The movie has started and i was late by 10 mins. In 5 mins i realised i didnt miss much, also realised that the choice of the movie was perfect.

There are mainly two kind of movies one where you have good songs or cast or big budget or big promotions. The second category of movies are one where you have a new cast, low budget or less promotion but a based on fresh new idea. This movie Tere Bin Laden falls under the second category. I just loved the idea of this movie. These kind of movies are Off Beat movies. They are rare and come only once in a while.

The movie is sent in the background of Pakistan. The whole story of the movie revolves around a young man (Ali) who is working as a reporter for a very small channel. Like every young person he too has dreams and his dream is to go to USA but has tough luck always. One day he goes to a village to report the news of Rooster Cocking competition. There he comes across Bin Laden. He believes that he has unearthened secret and will be getting $25 million. He goes back to the Laden's village just to confirm if he is the real Laden or not soon realises his name Laden's real name is Noora and he grows hen and sell eggs in the village. This Laden doesn't speak Arabic and is scared like a rat. From here the funny part of the movie begin and take us on a laughter ride. This movie is nice leg pulling ritual of US attack on Afghan and Osama hunt.

I dont want to spill out the whole story in this blog and ruine the fun of the movie. I will recommed you to watch this movie. These kind of movie are more worth watching than the crappy big budget movies like Raavan. Watch this movie only if you have a good knowledge of Hindi else you will miss the fun. The whole fun in the movie lies in the dialogues and the way Noora and Ali speak. The cast in the movie also has the girl Sugandha Garg of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame as Zoya the make up artist. Let me end this my telling you the moral of the story Short Cuts in life can never fetch you positive results. In the end our Laden marry his lady Zoya. The role of Noora played by Pradhuman Singh i guess can be nice start to a bright carrer for this young if he continues to act in these kind of.
World wouldn't have been the same without the real Laden or fake Laden

Do watch this movie.. I liked it you and sure you will also like it..

Knight & Day

I have a very bad habit of checking out the time on my mobile if i find a movie very sloppy and boring. After watching Raavan, Airbender and few other movies I always had this feeling of unquenched thirst of nice movie was killing me. And after spending lot of time with the dilemma of YES or NO to watch the movie in theatre, i finally said YES and went to this movie.

And while walking out of the theatre i realised that after watching Vedam nearly 5 weeks back this was the first movie where i didn't check the time while watching the movie. So now coming to the movie Knight & Day. The movie has a very good cast and the throughout the movie you will be entertained by the lead character Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz. The whole story revolves around them are there in almost every frame in the movie.

I felt this movie is part of Mission Impossible(MI) Series. The only difference is this movie is MI movies have only action without any humour but this movie has every thing that a movie needs, good cast, humour, good camera work, nice thrilling action and also plot to hold you till the end of 120 mins.

Tom Cruise after being in hibernation for 2 year making a guest apperance in Tropic Thunder and Lead role in Valkyrie has come back as a SPY. Tom is perfectly cut for the character. And his experince working on the MI series i guess had come in handy in hadling with ease the role of a SPY who turns rogue.

Cameron Diaz after working in Sister's Keeper and The Box has done good for herself by playing the role of a girl who is innocent and finds herself in the middle of the situtation where she is no where connected to it. She has done a good job even in the scenes where the lady had to do some stunts and action sequences. In the end the character passes through a Stockholm Syndrome and fall in love with the SPY who is the reason of the mess in her life. And she loves the mess.

The whole movie is about the character of Roy & June and how they manage to change the feeling of responsiblity and hatred into LOVE in the mess of spying. The movie has some nice single lines and funny incidents which give the audience a hearty laugh. And also the action sequences with the bike are captivating and thrilling. The camera work capturing the action scenes was good. The background score is a nice but in some situtation the James Bond sequences can be heard.

My take about the movie if you are keen to watch a good action movie with a string of humour added to it than dont miss this movie. Its worth watching in the theatre. And the chemistry between Tom and Cameron is amazing. Overall I enjoyed the movie.

Raavan Movie Review

After waiting for 10 weeks and struggling to get tickets for the movie i watched the movie Raavan. I was disappointed after coming out of the theatre after approximately 2 1/2 hrs. I felt with too much of media hype about Ash & Abi on the screen was very good strategy to market the movie. I feel Mani this time used his MBA degree to mint money than using his Directing skills. I have been fan of Mani Ratnam when i got to watch Nayakudu when i was a kid. I never understood at that age but still i loved the songs and the kid scenes in the movie. Now coming to Raavan the music of movie was awesome which helped in creating the hype and setting great the expectations in the movie. Again Mani-Rahman-Gulzar combination worked magic in terms of music. But non of the songs have the magic of Roja songs which were heard playing from Kashmir to Kanyakumari or from Kutch to Gangtok like a national anthem

These are some of the reasons why i didn't the movie:

1. The big reason is Abhishek Bachan he never took the role of Beera to the level that is required to make the name justifying for the movie. Beera in the movie never had the expressions in his face as a person who was living in the masses story demanded. Abhishek as Beera FAILED.

2. In the voice of both Aish & Abhi the experssion were not being delivered or were not souding as the situation demanded.

3. The narration and story telling was weak. It was not having the magic of Mani in telling the story. I know many people will say its Ramayan and story will be same, but i not demanding any change in the story. I am telling about the way the story is being narrated or presented on the screen. The first half of the movie is too slow and after sometime a feeling of why did i come to this movie come across your mind. In the second half when the reason of why Aish is kidnapped is narrated the story has some interesting moments. But after that if fall flat. As Abhi never had in him to deliver the things which demanded the role of Beera.

4. In second half when Dev(Vikram) shots and kills Hariya the brother of Beera who come to enter into a peace pact so that the hunt for Beera by him could be stopped is left untold. The reason behind Dev's intentions are not clear. Too many things left to the imagination.

5. In the final shot when Dev comes to catch Beera and shoot him than Beera falls into the valley. But before the shooting we can see that Beera was not standing on the edge but in the middle of a platform with Ragini(Aish).

6. Too much hype about the dancing skills of Aish. There is nothing much to flaunt her dancing skills in this movie during the promos. So dont expect too much about that part in the movie.
7. Background score is pathetic. Rahman has stopped in some stage of delivering after Jai Ho.. he need to come out of his Hollywood trends and dreams. Wake Up RAHMAN.

Mani told that he never goes back and watches his work again. Now is understand why he does that. If we as an audience can pin point so many errors but being a maker and creator of motion picture i am sure he will definetly want to re-do the whole movie of Raavan given a chance to him.

I am eager to watch the Tamil/Telugu verison because i want to see how Vikram had delivered the Beera role. I will update my view again.

VERDICT:
My suggestion if you are keen to watch a good movie than dont go to this moive. If you are in a mood just to watch any movie than watch it. You dont have to pay premium amount to watch this movie it not an exceptational movie to pay such an amount. If you are great fan of Mani Ratnam i am not stopping you at all. If you are a great fan of Abhi or Vikram than dont go because Abhi never is fit for the role and Vikram has no role at all in the movie. And ya coming to Ash if you are fan of her than you can watch it. But dont have expectation of having a feeling that you have watched a great movie after coming out of the theatre.

K Varaprasad better know as Chiranjeevi in Telugu film industry and better know as MEGASTAR among his fans. He started his a carrer with the movie Pranam Khareedu which was release first. The below given list my favourite TOP 11 movies in which Chiranjeevi's roles were impecable.

I am not ranking them as 1 to 10 as i feel each movie in itself speaks about him more than my letters. Each movie is a message to the society.

Tagore

This movie is a remake of Tamil movie "Ramana". In this movie Chiranjeevi plays the role of a college professor who silently plots kidnaps and wages a war against corruption and spreads fear among the corrupt employees. The scene where he brings a dead body to a private hospital and the private hospital doctors treat the patient is the best scene of the movie.

Stoovertpuram Police Station

In this movie Chiranjeevi plays the role of a police officer who is the son of a thief. Stoovertpuram is a place where all the thief are rehabilitated by the government. He is the son of the thief who returns back to the village as a Police officer as per the wish of his father to uplift the lives of the villagers. The scence where he has to hang his father on the day of joining as a police officer is heart touching.

Rudraveena

This is a movie where Chiranjeevi plays the role Suryam born in a higher caste but wants to reach out to everyone in the society irrespective of their background and wants to move out of the shadow of conservative father who is only concerned about this Caste & Carnatic music. This movie bring out the clash of egos between father and son due to generation gap.

In the ending scene when Father changes his chauvinistic self, when the Indian government recognizes Suryam's efforts at social reform and the Prime Minister of India himself comes to his village to felicitate him. His father realizes his son's ideals and proudly addresses the public himself as Suryam's father rather than a great musician is inspiring.

Kondaveeti Donga

The role in this movie can be said to be inspired from the english movie "Zorro". But the best part in the movie is Chiranjeevi's roles where he captures the screen with his mass appeal sends a very good message about the exploitation of the tribal and uneducated by the rich for the resources available in the jungles.

Gang Leader

In this movie Chiranjeevi plays the role of an unemployed angry young man, who was to save the family from the cluches of the group of murders who want to wipe out his family who have already killed his friends.

Challenge

This movie needs to be watched by every youth of the country and by every person who thinks that everything is impossible. Chiranjeevi plays the role of a educated young man who takes up the challenge of amassing wealth of Rs.50 lacs in 5 years and do it legally and by hard work. The scenes where he inspires a group of educated unemployed youth to change their mindset about what they have not got from the society but instead think about what they can give to the society is motivating.

Subha Lekha

Chiranjeevi plays the role of a multi talented person who but not interested in completing his BA. He comes to the rescue of young lady who refuges to marry a person who is demanding dowry. This was one of the movies where the motive was to uplift the society and make them aware about the Dowry killings.

Chanti Abbai

Chiranjeevi played the role of James Pond a private detective who solves cases for clients in the process all find his own roots. The movie is more famous for the hilarious eactment of the role by Chiranjeevi.

Idi Katha Kadu

This movie is a remake of Tamil movie "Avargal". The role of Chiranjeevi was enacted by Tamil Super Star Rajinikanth. It was big challenge for Chiranjeevi to repeat the performance of the tamil legend but he was successful in delivering it. In this movie his a sadistic and jealous husband, who tortures her with no end. This movie is more famous for his negative role. The scene where he keeps shooting darts while throwing tantrums on his wife is the best scene.

Swayam Krushi

The title of the movie itself speaks about how hard work can reap benefits in life. In this movie Chiranjeevi plays the role of a humble cobbler who raises to great heights with his hard work and commitment without forgetting his roots and origin from where he began his life

Abhilasha

This story was based on a unique point of removing Section 302 from IPC, which sentences death. Struggling lawyer dreams of removing IPC Section 302. Reason behind his determination was his father's death sentence under 302, for adultery, which he didn't commit. The scene where he acts as if he had done a crime which he had never did is moving.
